Semiya upma
Upma is an south Indian dish made of Rava. It is a popular breakfast dish across south India.It is usually made with refined wheat grains, which in India generally call suji and is also known in thesouth of India as rava.There are lots of varieties of Upma like rava upma,vegetable upma,bread upma,poha oats upma,vermicelli upma,semiya upma,aval upma.

Ingredients

  1. Semiya-2cup(cooked in water and drain out it)
  2. Vegetables-(carrot,beans,fresh green peas and capsicum)
  3. Oil-1 tbsp
  4. Mustard seeds-1tsp
  5. Peanuts-2 tbsp
  6. Onion-1 small
  7. Green chilly-2nos(chopped)
  8. Ginger-1 tsp(finely chopped)
  9. Curry leaves-a few
  10. Tomato-1(cut into small cubes)
  11. Turmeric powder(optional)-1/4 tsp
  12. Salt -to taste

Method

  • Cut the carrot and capsicum length wise and chop the french beans.
  • Cook this vegetables by steaming.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
  • Fry the peanuts for few minutes.
  • Add the ingredients from 6 to 9 and fry till the onion become translucent.
  • Add the steamed vegetables,green peas,tomatoes and turmeric powder.
  • Fry it little more time until it get soft.
  • Now add the semiya and required salt, mix well.
  • Serve it hot
