Rava pongal
Pongal is a popular rice based South Indian dish popular especially in Tamil Nadu. There are different varieties of Pongal namely sakarai pongal (sweet pongal), khara pongal (spicy pongal). Here is the simple recipe to prepare Rava Pongal.

Ingredients
- Rava-1cup
- Moong dal-1/2 cup
- Chopped ginger-1tsp
- Curry leaves-1sprig
- Black pepper corns-1tsp
- Cumin seeds-1tsp
- Cashew nuts-a few
- In a dry pan add rava and fry, till it is really hot to touch.
- Fry the black pepper and cumin seeds and make them powder.
- Fry the cashews and keep aside.
- Fry the moong dal till its raw smell goes.
- Half cook the moong dal and bring to boil with 1&1/2 cup of water.
- When it start to boil add rava slowly with continuos stirring.
- Add curry leaves, ginger and early prepared powder.
- Close the vessel and cook it for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Add ghee and fried cashew nuts when it removed from fire.
- Serve it hot with chutney.
