Mysore rasam is one of the many variants of the famous 'RASAM' of South India. Here is how you can prepare the tasty and healthy Mysore rasam.
INGREDIANTS
- Tuvar Dal-Toor Dal ( cooked)-1 Cup
- Tamarind- 1Lemon sized ball
- Chana dal -1tsp
- Tomatoes -1no
- Coriander seeds -1 tbsp
- Pepper corns -3 tbsp
- Grated coconut -2 tbsp
- Cloves-3 nos
- Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves-A few
- Curry leaves-A few
- Hing -1/2 tsp
- Dry red chlly-3 nos
- Mustard seeds-1 tsp
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Salt -To taste
STEPS
- Soak the tamarind in water for few minutes and extract the juice.
- Add chopped tomato, turmeric powder and salt to the tamarind juice and bring to boil until its raw smell disappears.
- At the same time saute the coriander seeds, pepper corns, chana dal, red chillies and cloves in 1 tbsp oil.
- Grind this with grated coconut to fine paeste
- Mix altogether (grinded paeste, cooked tuvar dal and curry leaves) with the tamarind juice.
- Heat oil in a pan and crack the mustard seeds,add the ingrediants 11 to 13 and pour it to the rasam.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it hot.
