- Thuvar Dhal - 1/2 cup
- Tomatoes -3 nos
- Tamarind - small lemon sized ball
- Water - 1 cup.
- Rasam powder - 2 tsps.
- Salt - 11/2 tsps.
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
- Ghee-1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 tsps.
- Dry red chillies-3 nos
Preperation
- Cook the thuvar dhal and keep aside.
- Dissolve the tamarind in 1/2 cup of water.
- Add the finely chopped tomatoes,salt,asafoetida,tumeric powder,rasam powder to the tamarind water and bring to boil for 10 minutes.
- Add cooked dhal and boil another 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a frying pan and crack the mustard seeds and dry red chillies.
- garnish with coriander leaves.
- Remove from fire and serve it hot.
