Parippu rasam,Dhal rasam
Dhal Rasam is a variant of Rasam and is easy to prepare.This is bit different from the ordinary Rasam.

Ingrediants

  • Thuvar Dhal - 1/2 cup
  • Tomatoes -3 nos
  • Tamarind - small lemon sized ball
  • Water - 1 cup.
  • Rasam powder - 2 tsps.
  • Salt - 11/2 tsps.
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
  • Ghee-1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tsps.
  • Dry red chillies-3 nos

Preperation

  • Cook the thuvar dhal and keep aside.
  • Dissolve the tamarind in 1/2 cup of water.
  • Add the finely chopped tomatoes,salt,asafoetida,tumeric powder,rasam powder to the tamarind water and bring to boil for 10 minutes.
  • Add cooked dhal and boil another 10 minutes.
  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a frying pan and crack the mustard seeds and dry red chillies.
  • garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Remove from fire and serve it hot.
